It’s summertime in Boston and we’ve got a new face at Yelling Mule! This month, we’re welcoming our newest Social Media Intern, Eric.

Eric Jansen

Hi everyone, my name is Eric Jansen! I am the new Social Media / Online Marketing Intern at Yelling Mule. I’m from Walpole, Mass. and I am currently going into my senior year at Wheaton College as a Business and Management major with a minor in General Education. At school, I am a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team and the Best Buddies Organization.

Yelling Mule caught my attention in the winter of 2015. After discovering their website designs, numerous awards, extensive amounts of positive customer feedback and new age office culture… I knew that I wanted to be a part of their company. Shortly after making this choice, I started to work with my advisor and career services office at Wheaton to make this desire become a reality. A stack of paperwork and an extremely stressful essay later, I was finally a part of  the Yelling Mule team.

I am very happy to be given this opportunity to explore the new world of online media marketing by Yelling Mule and the generosity of the Keefe Family Foundation.

I hope to learn as much as possible about the ins and outs of social media marketing, while seeing the time and effort that is needed to run a successful startup company. 

Q&A  

What’s something you can’t go one day without?

I would have to go with my backpack on this one. I put just about everything I can fit into my backpack, and I take it everywhere. I got this particular bag going into my first year of college and it’s still with me. I use it for work, travel, the gym, school, and as a pillow on the train. I literally bring it everywhere with me — I feel like Dora the Explorer, I have it with me so much. It makes my day a ton easier because I know that I will have everything I ever need in it. Not entirely sure what I would do without it.

How do you spend your free time?  

In my free time, I really just like to hangout with my friends. I have a really solid friend group from home that has stuck together since middle school and we pretty much do everything together. We play volleyball a lot, go out to bars, and take road trips to New Hampshire. Anytime we all get together, it is a good time.

What’s your favorite brand? 

I really enjoy everything LL Bean. I think they do a really good job making a quality product. I have vests, shirts, slippers and boots from them  and all of it has last me forever. I pretty much wear the duck boots everyday in the winter, and they haven’t failed me yet. It’s also pretty cool that most of their stuff is made up in Maine too.

What do you hope to bring to Yelling Mule? 

I hope to bring as much as I possibly can to Yelling Mule. As an intern working with the social media team, I want to first off just learn about their online/social media marketing techniques, and then try to generate new ideas from my own different perspective. But above all, I just want to bring in a good attitude and a willingness to learn in any department. I am extremely happy to be here and am eager to start making a positive impact.
