With the Game of Thrones’ finale on May 19th, many people have had mixed reactions with the way things ended and it is affecting Kit Harrington who plays Jon Snow the most unfortunately.

According to Slate, the British actor has been undergoing “psychological coaching, practicing mindful meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy to combat stress and deal with negative emotions at the luxury rehab facility, which costs over $120,000 a month!”.

His actress wife, Rose Leslie, 32, whom he met on the set and played Jon Snow’s Wildling companion Ygritte, is being extremely supportive.  Although we have not been dealing with the obvious stress that Kit has been dealing with, we had a great time sitting down on our weekly podcast with our co-workers to see if we could find some silver-lining within the season.

One thing that we all agreed about was the storyline of the Starks having a happy ending after everything we endured in the first 7 seasons of the show.

Between Arya slaying the Night King and saving her brother (and King) Bran from certain death, Sansa keeping the crown in the North where it belongs as Queen, and Jon being able to return north of the wall and help them we all thought that the Starks ending was wholesome.

We also thought that the Battle for Winterfell, although visually stunning, didn’t dive into the white walkers enough.  We were waiting for them for seasons and when they finally arrived they were beat in one battle which was kind of underwhelming. The Battle for Winterfell was not even as intense as the Battle of the Bastards, and although it had fine moments during the episode it just felt as if they rushed that story arc.

Along those same lines, we thought that Daenerys character changed very drastically but in the end it made sense why she chose to burn down King’s Landing. She had lost Missandei, Jorah, and all of this anger pent up finally unleashed the Mad Queen.

The battle of Kings Landing, as the penultimate episode worked quite well, and with the burning of the city came the death of both Queen Cersei and Jamie Lannister who were both very popular on the show. Their deaths were also quite underwhelming as they fell to the rubble and not the sword.

We got a lot of interesting things on this final season of the show including some grief for editing mistakes which included leaving a modern coffee cup in a scene.  Which inadvertently turned into lucky marketing because even people who didn’t watch the show in the office got to talking about it.

Overall, Game of Thrones had one of the best series run in HBO history and will ultimately go down as one of the most successful shows of all time.   They put on a masterclass in how to successfully make, market, and move the needle when Sunday night came every week.
