This week on our website development process series we are getting closer to the end and to that means it is time for some back end coding talk.

Back end development refers to the server side of an site and everything that communicates between the database and the browser. The essentials of backend web development include languages such as Java, Ruby, Python, PHP, .Net, etc.

This week on Digital Dialogue we sat down with our senior developer here at Yelling Mule, Stan. Stan has been at Yelling Mule for the last three and half years and has taken part in developing hundreds of sites. His role in the back end process is extremely important.

Both front end and back end are absolutely vital positions when developing a website and the functionality depends on both working in harmony. Stan is always in contact with the team and uses their experience working together to make sure every site is developed properly.

During the podcast with Stan he mentioned how W3C (World Wide Consortium) is important to him as a web developer. Using W3C-compliant code allows every website to function similarly, while also improving SEO.

Using W3C compliant code ensures that all browsers and devices have enforced standards that make them accessible to all users. All users then have equal access to sites whether they be on Chrome, Firefox or on an iPad or personal computer. By enforcing these standards, Stan said that it allows people an even playing field all around the world and to us that is very important.
