Thanks to technological advances like the smartphone, we are able to document our favorite life moments with just a tap of a finger. While iPhone Photography is already relatively straightforward, Apple is continuously looking for ways to help improve the photography process. Here are a few simple tips and tricks we think you should take advantage of so you can take “studio quality” pictures.

Portrait Mode

We don’t know about you, but we’re big fans of the Portrait Mode. iPhones with this feature uses twin-lens cameras to make the subject appear in focus while the background is blurred. This creates an artsy depth effect to the photos taken. Portrait Mode along with Portrait Lighting can also help you achieve a higher-quality looking image. Depending on the conditions surrounding the photo, you can select “Natural Light”, “Studio Light”, “Contour Light”, “Stage Light”, and “Stage Light Mono.”

Grid Setting

The grid setting on your iPhone is a great way to help you take a more planned photo. To add a grid to your camera, go to your settings, tap on photos and camera, and then tap on grid. The grid squares will let you line up your shot easier and will produce a more symmetrical picture.

High Dynamic Range

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is a feature on the iPhone that will balance the shadows and highlights of the image you take. According to Apple, HDR “automatically blends the best parts of three photos taken quickly at different exposures—on eat normal exposure, then one each of the brightest and darkest parts of the scene.” This process produces a single picture with the best exposure and image detail. To take an HDR photo, open the camera app on your iPhone, tap HDR  and then take the picture.

Burst Mode 

We all know taking a quality action or candid shot can be tricky. Burst Mode on the iPhone allows you to capture clear pictures of moving subjects. The camera takes pictures rapidly, giving you the best chance of capturing a clear image.
